synthisHorizon

Platform 01 — Media supply chain

Synthis Horizon

Manage, package and deliver video content to any endpoint from one cloud-native media supply chain — at a fraction of the storage footprint, and without re-rendering a master file for every edit.

Platform figures

What the architecture changes

Deduplication, parallel processing and template-driven packaging move the numbers that normally dominate a media supply chain budget.

Storage footprint

Up to 70%

Reduction in cloud storage held per title once duplicate frames across versions are stored once rather than per file.

Transcode time

~2 min

Typical time to process a full feature title using cloud-native parallel transcoding across distributed workers.

Delivery templates

100+

Prebuilt packaging and delivery templates covering the major OTT, retail and broadcast endpoint specifications.

QC automation

Up to 90%

Share of common file and delivery defects caught by automated quality control before content reaches an endpoint.

These are published benchmark figures for the underlying platform technology, measured across production deployments. They are not results from Synthis engagements, and they are not a performance commitment for any particular catalogue — actual figures depend on your content mix, version counts and delivery specifications. We will size the expected range against your own library during discovery.

How it works

Six stages, one pipeline

A single cloud-native path from arrival to delivery, with no hand-built rendering step between versions.

  1. Ingest

Media arrives in its native format over standard transports. Technical metadata, captions and subtitles are extracted automatically and file QC runs on arrival, so problems surface before anything moves downstream.

  2. Organize

No-code title hierarchies, custom metadata fields, virtual folders and tags let the catalogue structure match how the business actually describes it — including placeholder titles for content not yet delivered.

  3. Process

Cloud-native parallel transcoding fans a title across distributed workers, with caption, subtitle and metadata conversion handled in the same pass.

  4. Version

Frame-level analysis identifies what actually differs between an original version and each compliance edit or localisation, so a new version is a delta rather than another master.

  5. Package

Recipe-based packaging assembles deliverables from IMF composition playlists against prebuilt templates, so endpoint-specific rules are configuration rather than bespoke work.

  6. Deliver

Packages are generated on demand and pushed over the endpoint's preferred transport, with automated file QC and optional third-party delivery QC in front of the handoff.

Capabilities

Core capabilities

The operational surface of the platform, from frame-level deduplication through delivery QC and reporting.

Frame-level deduplication

Frame-by-frame comparison identifies identical frames across localised, edited and compliance versions of a title, storing one base file plus per-version differences.

  • One stored master, many addressable versions
  • Differences measured in MB rather than GB or TB
  • Catalogue-wide duplicate detection using machine learning

IMF-native architecture

Original and territory versions are built directly from deduplication analysis as IMF composition playlists, and deliveries are generated from IMF on demand.

  • Native IMF and IMP support
  • Composition playlists (CPLs) as first-class objects
  • No re-render of a master for each new version

Transcoding & processing

Cloud-native parallel transcoding processes a full feature title in minutes, with industry-standard transcoders and IMF-specific output handling built in.

  • Distributed parallel processing
  • Caption, subtitle and metadata conversion
  • Purpose-built IMF output generation

Versioning & localisation

Flexible incremental versioning captures compliance edits and localisations as saved changes, which makes redelivery of a corrected or re-cut version routine rather than a project.

  • Incremental change tracking per version
  • Low-cost redeliveries and re-cuts
  • Territory versions derived from the original

Title & metadata management

A point-and-click hierarchy builder and customisable metadata model let operations teams shape the catalogue without engineering involvement.

  • No-code title hierarchy builder
  • Custom metadata fields, virtual folders and tags
  • Placeholder titles for media not yet delivered

Packaging & distribution

Recipe-based packaging turns endpoint specifications into reusable templates, covering the formats retail and OTT platforms actually ask for.

  • 100+ prebuilt delivery package templates
  • Flat, IMF, iTunes, Apple Avails, Amazon MMC and MEC
  • On-demand package generation per endpoint

Quality control

Automated cloud-native file QC runs against every asset, with frame-accurate checks and integrations to the QC engines most delivery specifications already reference.

  • Automated file QC on ingest and before delivery
  • Netflix Photon and Interra Baton integrations
  • Frame-accurate verification

Storage tiering

Storage policies move assets between tiers on configurable rules using cloud lifecycle management, so cold catalogue stops paying hot-storage prices.

  • Rule-driven tier movement
  • Lifecycle policies applied per title or class
  • Retrieval handled inside the platform

Content security

Forensic watermarking is inserted automatically during processing, so distributed copies stay traceable to the delivery that produced them.

  • Forensic watermarking via Nagra integration
  • Watermarks applied in-pipeline, not as a separate pass
  • Runs on TPN-assessed AWS infrastructure

Preview & playback

In-platform preview covers most media types, including playback of composition playlists straight out of an IMF package — no local package assembly to check a version.

  • CPL playback from IMF packages
  • Frame-accurate transport controls
  • Caption and subtitle preview with audio meters

Dashboards & collaboration

Five role-based dashboards give every team the same live view of where a title is, with a task interface for sharing content and raising requests across groups.

  • Executive, IMF, Media Services, Ingest and QC views
  • Real-time title and media file status
  • Tasks for cross-team requests and content sharing

Analytics & reporting

Processing events from acquisition through distribution aggregate into an accessible analytics warehouse, so cost and cycle time can be measured rather than estimated.

  • End-to-end event capture across the supply chain
  • Reporting built on AWS QuickSight
  • Queryable warehouse for your own BI tooling
